
OLLI Director Interviewed for “Aging Matters” Podcast
OLLI Director, Chris McLeod, was recently interviewed for the “Aging Matters” podcast, which is broadcast and hosted on-line by WPTF 680 News Radio, a local station serving the Research Triangle area. During the twenty-minute interview, Chris shared an overview of the OLLI at Duke program and its role as one of the ten largest among 122 national Osher Life Long Learning Institute programs. Chris also emphasized the key roles played by OLLI volunteers—for example, in developing courses that respond to member interests; in preparing the fall, winter, and spring course catalogues, in teaching the OLLI courses, and in maintaining OLLI’s vibrant social network. Community Engagement SIG Needs Volunteers for Two Projects The Community Engagement SIG needs volunteers for two projects in Durham, one implementing a new project with Meals on Wheels and one working on an evaluation of the Farmer Foodshare’s Donation Program. The group is also developing some new projects in the education area in Durham. Learn more here. Volunteer Opportunity with Durham Center for Senior Living EATS Program Few people realize that an estimated 7,300 senior citizens in Durham are food insecure and lack limited or uncertain access to adequate food.
